چکیده

Rationale Postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans (PIBO) is a rare, chronic respiratory condition, which follows an acute insult due to severe infection of the lower airways. Objectives The objective this study was investigate long-term course bronchial inflammation and pulmonary function testing in children with PIBO. Methods Medical charts 21 PIBO were analyzed retrospectively at Children's University Hospital Frankfurt/Main Germany. Pulmonary tests (PFTs) interval least 1 month studied between 2002 2019. A total 382 PFTs per year, two best PFTs, 217, evaluated. Additionally, 56 sputum analysis assessed neutrophils Results evaluation 217 showed decrease FEV1 loss 1.07% z score −0.075 year. FEV1/FVC decreased by 1.44 FVC remained stable, showing nonsignificant increase 0.006 However, L increased significantly 0.032 cm 0.048 L/cm height. Sputum significant 2.12% Conclusion Our results demonstrated that patients persistent obstruction over average follow-up period 8 years. lung growth revealed. In addition, persisted clearly increasing amount induced sputum. Patients did not present general susceptibility infections.

Growing old(er) with postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans.

Most healthy children shrug off viral respiratory tract infections with little difficulty or assistance and a full recovery is the norm. A small minority, in contrast, are left with serious consequences. Important among these is postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans (pBO) characterised by persistent—and sometimes severe—airway obstruction with functional and radiological evidence of small air...

Postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans accompanied by pulmonary hemosiderosis in childhood.

In the present report, we describe an unusual presentation of post-infectious bronchiolitis obliterans accompanied by pulmonary hemosiderosis in a nine-year-old boy with persistent respiratory symptoms subsequent to an episode of acute bronchiolitis occurring at the age of seven months. After the episode, the persistent respiratory symptoms worsened significantly, and, by the age of seven, the ...

Although diagnosis of PIBO should be confirmed by histopathology, it is generally based on history and clinical findings. Irreversible...

Pos-infectious bronchiolitis obliterans in children.

Bronchiolitis obliterans (BO) is a rare disease in immunocompetent children that usually occurs after infection of the lower airways. While a diagnosis of BO was usually confirmed by lung biopsy, identification of prior lung lesion plus a typical clinical course and a suggestive chest X-ray and CT scan have replaced the need for more invasive procedures. The authors reviewed the clinical record...
